Welcome Fall

We welcome Fall with songs about leaves, apples, pumpkins and we’re getting comfortable with our bodies with songs old favorites like “Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes", “Dem Bones,” and “The Hokey Pokey.” We’re exploring musical instruments like the xylophone and learning about the difference between high and low pitches. Finally, we are getting introduced to composers like Camille Saint Saens and Imogen Holst. In “Fossils” from Saint Saens’ bigger work “Carnival of the Animals”, we practice playing along with the xylophone, piano, violin and clarinet. In Holst’s “Fall of the Leaf,” we practice following the string sections descending scales and arpeggios while we imagine leaves falling down to the ground. You can find some of our songs in the October Newsletter and listen to “Fossils” and “Fall of the Leaf” by clicking below.
